After flying high against the Waterford Lancers last Tuesday, the Norwich Free Academy Wildcats came back down to earth. Norwich Free Academy took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of New London. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Norwich Free Academy in their matchups with New London: they've now lost four in a row.
Norwich Free Academy lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jordyn Bay-kent, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds. Bay-kent hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Selia Atchinson, who scored 13 points.
Norwich Free Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for New London, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norwich Free Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bacon Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th. As for New London, they will face off against Xaverian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Xaverian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 87th in New York, while New London is ranked ninth in Connecticut).
