The Bishop Ireton Cardinals are ranked highly in their home state, and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Elizabeth Seton. Bishop Ireton narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the 70-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Bishop Ireton was led to victory by Amirah Anderson and Nyla Brooks. Anderson almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds, while Brooks scored 27 points along with six rebounds. Brooks is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Theresa Hagans Jr., who scored ten points.
Bishop Ireton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Elizabeth Seton, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.
