Football Game Preview: Clifton Central Comets vs. Watseka Warriors

Clifton Central is a perfect 8-0 against Watseka since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Comets will square off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Clifton Central's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Last Friday, Clifton Central strolled past Oakwood with points to spare, taking the game 35-21.

Kaden Neveu had another great game (as he tends to do), picking up 153 receiving yards and three scores. Brady Shule was another key player, having thrown for 333 yards and four touchdowns.

Clifton Central didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Oakwood to a completion percentage of just 50%. Clifton Central wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 57.9%.

Clifton Central's defense also made the game a nightmare for Alex Wallace., racking up eight sacks. Leading the way was Kaedyn Meents with two sacks. Clifton Central got some further help from Derek Meier: he forced one fumble and made 12 total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Meanwhile, Watseka had to suffer through a 47-6 loss at the hands of Salt Fork. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Storm recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Clifton Central pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.7 points on average over those games. As for Watseka, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Everything went Clifton Central's way against Watseka in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as Clifton Central made off with a 30-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
