Baseball Recap: Ennis Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Ennis was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Crandall on Tuesday. The Ennis Lions blew past the Crandall Pirates 12-4. Considering the Lions have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Keno Castillo was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Castillo was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Caleb Beauchamp was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Ennis' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6-2 when he doesn't).

Ennis hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive games.

Ennis is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. Crandall has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Ennis will have a chance to go back-to-back against Crandall: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
