The Dublin Scioto Irish will head out to take on the Olentangy Braves at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Dublin Scioto has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Monday, Dublin Scioto didn't have quite enough to beat Central Crossing and fell 3-2.
Dublin Scioto saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gina Wasko, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Olentangy waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the Jaguars 12-10. Olentangy's win was all the more impressive since the Jaguars were averaging only 3.73 runs allowed on the season.
The team relied heavily on Nola Tracy (Miami University), who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Teagan Quisenberry was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Olentangy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Olentangy's victory bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Dublin Scioto, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
Olentangy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Dublin Scioto has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Olentangy, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Dublin Scioto keep running through batters, or will the Braves buck the trend?
Dublin Scioto skirted past Olentangy 11-10 in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Irish since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
