Teurlings Catholic (Lafayette, La.) 31-21 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a passing touchdown, the Rebels went into halftime with a 14-7 lead. The Cougars took the lead for good with a field goal in the third quarter.
The loss came as a surprise for Teurlings Catholic, which entered the game ranked No. 3 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Louisiana, while St. Thomas More was ranked No. 56. TC came into the game having won zero of the past two games between the two teams.
STM's most effective player was
Brandon Bergeron. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
The Rebels came in allowing just 10.4 points per game this season. Teurlings Catholic struggled against the Cougars' offense, which entered the game scoring 36.0 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 27-24 win for St. Thomas More.
The loss comes after Teurlings Catholic defeated Crowley 38-0 last week.
Teurlings Catholic (5-1) will play a 4A District 5 game against Breaux Bridge next week, while St. Thomas More (3-3) will take on Northside also in a 4A District 5 game.
