The Hoover Huskies are taking a road trip to face off against the Winfield Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Hoover lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Lincoln County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's matchup. Hoover was the clear victor by a 12-6 margin over Lincoln County on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.
Jacob White looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Colton Tawney was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Braydon Bounds was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Winfield never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past Poca 13-0. The contest marked the Generals' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Cameron Wallace made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Wallace was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Winfield let Ean Cox and Brayson Downey run wild. Cox scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Downey went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Keiffer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Winfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Poca only posted an OBP of .300.
Winfield's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Hoover, their record now sits at 2-0.
