The Wenatchee Panthers lost against the Sunnyside Grizzlies back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Wenatchee fell 20-10 to Sunnyside. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wenatchee in their matchups with Sunnyside: they've now lost three in a row.
Sunnyside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Avalos out in front who threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Sunnyside also got a significant boost from Rylee Gonzalez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 115 yards.
Wenatchee's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.3 points per game. As for Sunnyside, their win bumped their record up to 4-4.
Wenatchee will head out on the road to face off against West Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (West Valley is ranked 110th, while Wenatchee is ranked 101st). As for Sunnyside, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Davis at 7:00 p.m. Davis is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
