Thornton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Araya William, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. My'la Hernandez Gutierrez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Despite the defeat, Aurora Central saw an underclassman step up: Jamaea Johnson Gonzalez dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Johnson Gonzalez has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nijaha Davis, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Thornton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Aurora Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
