Hickory has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the North Iredell Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Hickory's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight games.
Hickory can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past St. Stephens 81-61. Given Hickory's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Indians are ranked 239th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hickory to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jay Powell, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Powell has scored all season. Izaiah Littlejohn was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, North Iredell scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top against North Lincoln by a score of 88-80. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Hickory pushed their record up to 20-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.9 points per game. As for North Iredell, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.
Everything came up roses for Hickory against the Raiders in their previous meeting last Thursday as the squad secured a 95-34 victory. With Hickory ahead 42-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
