On Friday, the Snow Canyon Warriors faced the Alta Hawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Snow Canyon was outmatched by Alta on the road and fell 68-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Snow Canyon has scored all season.
Snow Canyon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carter Campbell, who scored ten points. Drey Smith was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Alta's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ace Reiser led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six assists and three steals. The matchup was Reiser's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Snow Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Alta, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
Snow Canyon won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Jordan at 1:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. West Jordan is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Alta, they will head out on the road to face off against East at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Alta is ranked first).
