Baseball Recap: Lincoln Wins Going Away Against Riverview

Lincoln had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 10-20 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Riverview Pirates. The Railsplitters not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23rd (when they won 6-0).

Aidan Sullivan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Lincoln: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-19 otherwise. Sullivan was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 contests.

In other batting news, Lincoln let Brett Jones and Michael Stone run wild. Jones went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Stone got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Stone is becoming a predictor of Lincoln's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 6-19 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Corbin Kern, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

As for Riverview, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-19. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Riverview's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Minnick, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Coming up, Lincoln will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Portage Northern at 11:00 a.m. Riverview will be paying especially close attention to the Railsplitters' matchup: after the Railsplitters face off against Plymouth, they'll take on Riverview again at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
