Having just played yesterday, the Valdosta Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Camden County Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Valdosta has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 30.
On Friday, Valdosta was beaten by the Packers 77-48. While losing is never fun, Valdosta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Packers are ranked 33rd).
Meanwhile, Camden County was able to grind out a solid win over the Wildcats on Tuesday, taking the game 44-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Camden County.
Camden County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Akeelah Bryan, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Bryan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Rietveld, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Valdosta's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Camden County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.
Valdosta came up short against the Wildcats in their previous matchup back in January, falling 55-46. Can Valdosta avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
