With a playoff game on the line, the New Hanover Wildcats rose to the challenge on Friday. They strolled past Hillside with points to spare, taking the game 23-6. The victory was just what New Hanover needed coming off of a 44-7 loss in their prior match.
Leading New Hanover to victory were Mason Shand and Caleb Robles. Shand rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns, while Robles rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Robles was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards.
New Hanover's victory bumped their record up to 6-6. As for Hillside, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.
New Hanover is on the road again on Friday and play against New Bern at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. New Bern will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Hillside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
