Iola's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cortland Carson led the charge by scoring 21 points along with 8 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lucas Maier, who scored 9 points along with 15 rebounds.
Iola's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Anderson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Iola will face off against Central Heights at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Anderson County, they will head out on the road to face off against Baldwin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin and Anderson County are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
