Baseball Recap: Bridges Prep Wins Going Away Against Hampton County

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pinewood Prep, Bridges Prep was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Hampton County Hurricanes 13-5. The high-scoring effort was just what the Buccaneers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Connor Jones and James Williams were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Jones tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Williams struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Jones scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Williams scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wesley Brown, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bryce Young, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Bridges Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Bridges Prep pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Hampton County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Bridges Prep will challenge Lowcountry Leadership at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hampton County will be paying especially close attention to the Buccaneers' match: after the Buccaneers faces off against the NaviGators, they'll take on Hampton County again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
