The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Santaluces in their matchups with Cardinal Newman: they've now lost four in a row.
It was another big night for Alysha Fenelus, who scored 34 points along with eight steals for Cardinal Newman. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fenelus has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Katie Kent, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Santaluces' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.7 points per game. As for Cardinal Newman, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santaluces and Jupiter will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Cardinal Newman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Atlantic Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
