Softball Recap: Episcopal Comes Up Short

Episcopal dropped down to 6-7 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 13-3 to the Sumner Cowboys. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 17-3 to the Cowboys when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Sumner, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season. Considering they have won 13 games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Sumner's part, Montana Kirkland was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Kirkland has posted over her last eight matchups. Bre'Leigh Bryant was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Looking ahead, Episcopal will venture away from home to square off against Slaughter Community Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sumner, they will host Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
