The contest between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Tygarts Valley falling 44-28. They have struggled against Pendleton County recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Tygarts Valley had strong showings from Summer Lewis-Smith, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds, and Alyssa Swecker, who scored six points along with six rebounds. Lewis-Smith is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Tygarts Valley's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-2. As for Pendleton County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6.
Tygarts Valley will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Tug Valley at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Pendleton County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Harman at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
