Basketball Game Preview: Andover Central Jaguars vs. Arkansas City Bulldogs

Andover Central is 10-0 against Arkansas City since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Andover Central Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Arkansas City Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Andover Central came up short against Maize South and fell 43-33. The Jaguars have struggled against the Mavericks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their defeat, Andover Central saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Emma Cooper, who posted three points in addition to 11 boards and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Cooper a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Taylin Tabor, who had 11 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Arkansas City beat South 56-49 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Arkansas City's win came from a few key players Andover Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Savannah Phillips, who went 8 of 17 on her way to 20 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Saliyah Henderson-Johnson, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Andover Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Arkansas City, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Andover Central took their victory against Arkansas City in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 47-26. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Henderson-Johnson, who made all 6 shots she took to post 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
