The Moniteau Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Redbank Valley Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Moniteau has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Moniteau's last matchup with New Castle could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Monday. The Warriors came up short against the Hurricanes, falling 14-3. The Warriors just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
Moniteau saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Mcghee, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Redbank Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley 5-4. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Mackenzie Foringer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
Redbank Valley pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Moniteau, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Moniteau hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Redbank Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Moniteau skirted past Redbank Valley 9-8 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
