Softball Recap: Newark Memorial Wins Going Away Against Washington

Newark Memorial won the last time they faced Washington and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Huskies. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.

Andrea Tall was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and one triple. She has been hot, having posted at least one home run the last five times she's played. Mahlyah Sao was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

Newark Memorial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington only posted an OBP of .370.

Newark Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Washington, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Looking ahead, Newark Memorial will welcome Kennedy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Washington, they will head out to square off against Silver Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
