DURHAM, N.C. -- USA Baseball and MaxPreps announced on Monday, the USA Baseball MaxPreps Pitcher and Player of the Week Award winners for the week of April 25, 2016, bringing national recognition to the top-performing high school athletes in the country.

Representing eight national regions, -- Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest and West -- players are selected based upon stats that are submitted to MaxPreps.com by coaches and team administrators. For players to be nominated each week, their coach must enter the athlete's game stats into MaxPreps by Sunday evening. High school coaches may obtain an access code to enter stats for their teams at maxpreps.com/cl.

The winners of the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Pitcher and Players of the Week Award are as follows:

Great Lakes
Pitcher of the Week: Chayce McDermott pitched a complete-game one-hitter for Pendleton Heights High School (Pendleton, Ind.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Great Lakes Pitcher of the Week award. McDermott struck out 10 batters in the victory.
Player of the Week: Tyler Garcia went 5-for-6 with two home runs for Fairdale High School (Fairdale, Ky.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Great Lakes Player of the Week award. Garcia, a senior, scored five runs, tallied eight RBIs, and finished the week with an .875 on-base percentage.

Mid-Atlantic
Pitcher of the Week: Chance Chavis threw seven innings of no-hit baseball for Northwood Temple Academy (Fayetteville, N.C.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Mid-Atlantic Pitcher of the Week award. Chavis, a junior, struck out 12 batters, and gave up two unearned runs.
Player of the Week: William Givens slugged 2.800 on the week for Simon Gratz High School (Philadelphia, Pa.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Mid-Atlantic Player of the Week award. Givens, a junior, went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs scored, eight RBIs, and three home runs.

Midwest
Pitcher of the Week: Cameron Taylor struck out 20 batters for Bellevue West High School (Bellevue, Neb.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Midwest Pitcher of the Week award. Taylor, a junior, gave up six hits in 12 scoreless innings to go 2-0 on the week.
Player of the Week: Nick Smith hit .750 for El Reno High School (El Reno, Okla.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Midwest Player of the Week. Smith, a senior, went 6-for-8 with eight RBIs and one home run.

Northeast
Pitcher of the Week: Tyler Prospero struck out 20 batters in 13 innings for Notre Dame High School (Batavia, N.Y.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Northeast Pitcher of the Week. Prospero, a senior, gave up just five hits and surrendered no runs to go 2-0 on the week.
Player of the Week: Matt Leviton hit .818 for South River High School (South River, N.J.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Northeast Player of the Week. Leviton, a senior, went 9-for-11 with 10 runs scored, four RBIs, and three walks.

Northwest
Pitcher of the Week: Ben Wadowski struck out 14 batters for Kentwood High School (Covington, Wash.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Northwest Pitcher of the Week. Wadowski, a senior, gave up just one hit and two walks in the shutout victory.
Player of the Week: Timmy Engel tallied 12 RBIs for Centauri High School (La Jara, Colo.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Northwest Player of the Week. Engel, a senior, hit .875 and two home runs, and scored six runs to finish the week with a 2.000 slugging percentage.

Southeast
Pitcher of the Week: Rob Patterson struck out 15 batters in five innings for East Robertson High School (Cross Plains, Tenn.) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Southeast Pitcher of the Week. Patterson, a junior, gave up just two hits.
Player of the Week: James Arnold hit four home runs for First Presbyterian Christian Academy (Hinesville, Ga.) to be named the USA Baseball/Max Preps Southeast Player of the Week. Arnold, a senior, went 5-for-6 with seven RBIs and a slugging percentage of 2.833.

Southwest
Pitcher of the Week: Michael Everret pitched a complete-game shutout for Odem High School (Odem, Texas) to be named the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Southwest Pitcher of the Week. Everett, a junior, struck out 13 batters and gave up just four hits in the win.
Player of the Week: Tyler Hansen went 8-for-9 at the plate for Snowflake High School (Snowflake, Ariz.) to be name the USA Baseball/MaxPreps Southwest Player of the Week. Hansen, a senior, hit two home runs, scored five runs, and tallied four RBIs on the week.

West
Pitcher of the Week: J.W. Dauth struck out 11 batters in five innings for Tioga High School (Groveland, Calif.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps West Pitcher of the Week award. Dauth, a junior, gave up just one hit and only three walks in the victory.
Player of the Week: Cody MacKay held a .917 on-base percentage for Foresthill High School (Foresthill, Calif.) to earn the USA Baseball/MaxPreps West Player of the Week award. MacKay, a senior, went 7-for-8 with seven runs scored, five RBIs, and one home run.
