The Pueblo South Colts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 29-18 to Pueblo Centennial. Pueblo South was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pueblo Centennial apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Pueblo South had strong showings from Trista Crittenden, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Jaime Pearson, who scored no points along with six rebounds and six steals. Pearson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.
Nina Orta was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season.
Pueblo South bumped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.0 points per game. As for Pueblo Centennial, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7.
Pueblo South will take on Pueblo County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Pueblo County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pueblo South in Colorado (Pueblo County is ranked 121st, while Pueblo South is ranked 275th). As for Pueblo Centennial, they will head out on the road to face off against Sierra at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Sierra focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Wednesday.
