There's no place like home for the Snow Canyon Warriors, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 67-57 victory over Cedar on Friday. Given Snow Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Cedar is ranked 85th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Owen Mackay was his usual excellent self, scoring 35 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Snow Canyon's points. Trey Kelsch was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Cedar still got an impressive performance from Easton Albrecht, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Kee, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Cedar were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Snow Canyon's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Cedar, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Snow Canyon will head out on the road to face off against Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Dixie's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine games. As for Cedar, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Pine View at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Pine View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday.
