The Louisa County Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 70-44 loss at the hands of Godwin. Louisa County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-19.
Louisa County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Yeatts, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Brady, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Leading Godwin to victory were Lakelyn Bostian and Reagan Nemeyer. Bostian almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, while Nemeyer scored 25 points along with four steals. Nemeyer is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Bella Ross, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Louisa County dropped their record down to 4-17 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Godwin, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Louisa County will face off against Western Albemarle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Albemarle presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Louisa County in Virginia (Western Albemarle is ranked 84th, while Louisa County is ranked 317th). As for Godwin, they will head out on the road to square off against J.R. Tucker at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Godwin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Monday.
