Even though the A.L. Brown Wonders scored an imposing 64 points on Friday, the Cox Mill Chargers still came out on top. Cox Mill walked away with a 72-64 win over A.L. Brown. Given Cox Mill's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while A.L. Brown is ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cox Mill got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Brown out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayton Ross, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Cox Mill is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for A.L. Brown, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cox Mill won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Oak Hill Academy at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. One thing working in Oak Hill Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests. As for A.L. Brown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A.L. Brown is coming into the contest with seven straight defeats at home, so West Cabarrus is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
