Lakeside is 1-9 against Osborne since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lakeside Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Osborne Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Lakeside is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
After soaring to a 30-point victory in their last game, Lakeside came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Lincoln by a score of 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Lakeside has suffered yet this season.
Despite their defeat, Lakeside saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Reece Remus, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Remus is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jorden Schoen, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Osborne waltzed into their game on Saturday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They took down Sylvan-Lucas 58-39. Given Osborne's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Sylvan-Lucas is ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lakeside has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Osborne, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Lakeside ended up a good deal behind Osborne when the teams last played back in January of 2023, losing 68-50. Can Lakeside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
