North Yarmouth Academy has gone 8-1 against St. Dominic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Saints at 3:30 p.m. North Yarmouth Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak dating back to last season.
North Yarmouth Academy barely beat Sacopee Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 18-1 win on Tuesday.
Lily Fortin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Fortin was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Jordan Nash was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sadie Morgan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
North Yarmouth Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sacopee Valley only posted an OBP of .316.
Meanwhile, St. Dominic took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lisbon, sneaking past 13-11.
The team relied heavily on Cassidy Russell, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Ella Doucette was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.
North Yarmouth Academy's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for St. Dominic, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
North Yarmouth Academy was able to grind out a solid win over St. Dominic in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 11-7. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
