After losing to the Rocky Mountain Lobos the last time they met, the Horizon Hawks decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Horizon snuck past the Lobos with a 51-47 victory on Saturday.
Brady Greene was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alex Mccollum, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Rocky Mountain's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddox Base, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals. Base hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Avantae Hood was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Horizon has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Rocky Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horizon will challenge the Lambkins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Collins knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matchups -- so hopefully the Hawks like a good challenge. As for Rocky Mountain, they and the Coyotes will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Monarch will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
