Baseball Recap: Cypress Creek Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

Cypress Creek hadn't done well against Wiregrass Ranch recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Coyotes walked away with a 14-9 win over the Bulls. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 back in March.

Andrew Farriss made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Farriss was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other pitching news, Gavin Shefsky tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Cypress Creek got a massive performance out of Deacon Turpin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Turpin is becoming a predictor of the Coyotes' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Rankin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Cypress Creek and Wiregrass Ranch are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Coyotes will face off against Lecanto at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they will square off against Wharton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
