The Wells Leopards lost against the McDermitt Bulldogs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Wells suffered a tough 58-34 defeat at the hands of McDermitt. Wells has not had much luck with McDermitt recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
McDermitt's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laeloni Tobey, who scored eight points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Vina Tom, who scored 16 points.
Wells' defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 6-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for McDermitt, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Wells will look to defend their home court on Friday against Eureka at 6:00 p.m. Eureka is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games. As for McDermitt, they will head out on the road to face off against Owyhee at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Owyhee is ranked 49th, while McDermitt is ranked 23rd).
