Holly Hill Academy will square off against Dorchester Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Holly Hill Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Northwood Academy with a sharp 16-4 victory. Considering the Raiders have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Holly Hill Academy let Kloie Mizell and Abby Burleson run wild. Mizell scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Burleson scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Strickland, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Holly Hill Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Dorchester Academy put another one in the bag last Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Andrew Jackson Academy as Dorchester Academy made off with an 18-3 win. The matchup marked the Raiders' most dominant victory of the season.
Dorchester Academy got a massive performance out of Emery McClure, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. McClure is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Lily Canady was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Holly Hill Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Dorchester Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Holly Hill Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .376. However, it's not like Dorchester Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .398. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Holly Hill Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Dorchester Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2015, sneaking past 9-8. Will Holly Hill Academy repeat their success, or does Dorchester Academy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
