East Alton-Wood River is 0-6 against Gillespie since April of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. East Alton-Wood River barely beat Metro-East Lutheran the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Oilers blew past the Knights 11-3 on Thursday. Considering the Oilers have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ellie Beachum was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
