Softball Recap: Wheaton Takes a Loss

Wheaton dropped down to 3-3 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Richard Montgomery Rockets, falling 20-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Knights were not able to get on the board.

As for Richard Montgomery, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by 14 runs or more this season.

For Richard Montgomery's part, Maddie Little made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Little has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Ella Cummings was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Callie Gutmann was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Wheaton and Richard Montgomery will both be playing Blair the next time they take the field. The Knights will host the Blazers at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rockets will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
