After flying high against the Buckeye Bucks last Saturday, the Lakewood Rangers came back down to earth. Lakewood fell 64-57 to the Tigers on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Lakewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while the Tigers are ranked 168th).
Washington was led to victory by Makiya Edwards and La Nia Moore. Edwards dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Moore dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. Moore is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Hannah Nicola, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Lakewood will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Patriots at 12:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Valley Forge is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Washington, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Arrows at 2:30 p.m. Ashland will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
