LEXINGTON, N.C. - A 42-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter didn't slow down
North Davidson (Lexington, N.C.) as it put 13 more points on the scoreboard to secure its victory over R.J. Reynolds (Winston-Salem, N.C.) 55-0.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Devonte Moore in the first quarter, the Knights led 35-0 at the half.
North Davidson expanded its lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. ND's lone score in the quarter came on a
Ketrick Eller touchdown run.
A 28-point first quarter helped the Lexington school secure the big victory. The Knights scored on a touchdown run by Moore, a touchdown pass by
Chase Mitchell to
Spencer Arrowood, a Moore touchdown run and a rushing touchdown in the quarter.
North Davidson's most effective player was Moore. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns.
Led by
Shy Tuttle, ND had given up an average of 11.9 points prior to the contest.
The Knights also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 28-10.
North Davidson (10-0) will play a 4A Central Piedmont game against Davie next week, while R.J. Reynolds (4-6) will take on West Forsyth also in a 4A Central Piedmont game.
