Falls Lake has gone a perfect 4-0 against Wake Prep Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Firebirds will challenge the Guardians at 3:30 p.m. Falls Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Falls Lake picked up another tournament win on Saturday. Everything went their way against Crossroads Christian as they made off with a 14-1 win.
Jacob Watson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Kace Obriant was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Falls Lake's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Dalton Parker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs.
Falls Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crossroads Christian only posted an OBP of .381.
Meanwhile, Wake Prep Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Wakefield, falling 12-1.
Wake Prep Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyson Spence, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.
Falls Lake has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Wake Prep Academy, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Falls Lake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wake Prep Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Falls Lake skirted past Wake Prep Academy 3-2 in their previous matchup on April 4th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
