Softball Recap: Peotone Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Peotone hadn't done well against Streator recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 1-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was a revenge game for the Blue Devils: when they faced off against the Bulldogs on Monday, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

Sophie Klawitter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Peotone pushed their record up to 7-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Streator, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

When Peotone and Streator next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Blue Devils will try to stop Grant Park's four-game winning streak when they meet at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Streator will square off against Washington and their seven-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
