Even though the Liberty Christian Academy Eagles have not done well against the Wellsville-Middletown Tigers recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Liberty Christian Academy walked away with a 62-52 victory over Wellsville-Middletown. Given Liberty Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Wellsville-Middletown is ranked 537th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Liberty Christian Academy was led to victory by Willy Mueller and Jack Duvel. Mueller dropped a double-double on 17 points and 26 rebounds, while Duvel scored 20 points along with five assists and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Duvel has scored at least 25% of Liberty Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Kuehn, who scored 11 points.
Liberty Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Wellsville-Middletown, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Liberty Christian Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face St. Vincent at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st. St. Vincent is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Wellsville-Middletown will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Westran on January 2, 2024.
