Wayne is 8-2 against Bryce Valley since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Badgers will host the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Wayne will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Wayne earned a 54-42 victory over Valley.
Wayne relied on the efforts of AJ VanDyke, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 14 boards, and Timber Wood, who went 6-for-8 en route to 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which VanDyke has scored at least a third of the Badgers' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Morrill, who posted six points.
Meanwhile, Bryce Valley played in-conference for the first time on Thursday and got just the result they were looking for. They walked away with a 52-45 win over Water Canyon. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Bryce Valley's win came from a few key players that Wayne will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Annabella Vasquez, who put up 18 points and seven rebounds. Genesis Syrett was another key player, shooting 42% from the field to rack up 11 points and seven boards.
Bryce Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.
Bryce Valley's win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Wayne, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Wayne hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57.4 points per game. It's a different story for Bryce Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 37 points. The only thing between Wayne and another offensive beatdown is the Mustangs. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Wayne got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in January against Bryce Valley by a conclusive 69-47 score. Will the Badgers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
