The Concord Academy Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Lee Park Prep Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Concord Academy's win against Piedmont Community Charter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Concord Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Piedmont Community Charter on Friday, sneaking past 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.
Caisyn Berg made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Izzy Williams was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Carmean, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, everything went Lee Park Prep's way against Gaston Christian on Thursday as Lee Park Prep made off with a 16-1 win.
Lee Park Prep let Addison Laney and Nevaeh Alexander run wild. Laney went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Alexander scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Rushing, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Lee Park Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gaston Christian only posted an OBP of .333.
Concord Academy's record is now 2-0. As for Lee Park Prep, their record now sits at an identical 2-0.
