Red Bluff moved up to 410 from 552 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Eastern. The Spartans climbed the ranks as a result of a 50-7 win over the Spartans.
Foothill was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in the league. The Cougars beat Shasta 37-29 earlier in the week.
Foothill's dynamic duo of Ryan Pollard and Davis Kepon proved tough for the Wolves to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Pollard threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns and Kepon had 109 yards receiving. Cooper Janusveskis helped Foothill's passing attack out by catching four balls for 83 yards.
Austin Gardner made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bryon Hamilton's team topped Shasta. The 5-foot-10 senior recorded two fumbles.
Tyler Burrows was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 176 yards as Paradise bested Aaron Gingery's team. Teammate James Hingst added to the ground attack by rushing for 45 yards.
Foothill's Pollard and Janusveskis have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Eastern in both passing and receiving yards. Pollard has thrown for 883 yards this season, while Janusveskis, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 19 catches for 334 yards. Tucker Gulliford from Red Bluff leads the league in rushing with 456 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Bobcats take on the Cougars. Paradise is in second place, while Foothill is in third place.
There should be lots of points scored when Rick Prinz's team and the Cougars face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Bobcats comes in having scored 137 this season, while Foothill has scored 142. Paradise scored 48 points last week as it beat Pleasant Valley.
Corey Hein's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,990 from 7,359. The advance stemmed from a 50-7 victory over the Spartans last week.
