The Thornapple Kellogg Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Kenowa Hills Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Thornapple Kellogg is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, Thornapple Kellogg was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 36-30 to Forest Hills Eastern. While losing is never fun, Thornapple Kellogg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Forest Hills Eastern is ranked 95th).
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Drake Snyder, who rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan J bonnema, who rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Meanwhile, Kenowa Hills' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. The match between Kenowa Hills and Cedar Springs wasn't particularly close, with Kenowa Hills falling 35-21. That's two games in a row now that Kenowa Hills has lost by exactly 14 points.
The losses dropped Thornapple Kellogg to 1-7 and Kenowa Hills to 2-6.
Thornapple Kellogg and Kenowa Hills were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, but Thornapple Kellogg came up empty-handed after a 29-28 defeat. Can Thornapple Kellogg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
