Last Wednesday, Fayette took a serious blow against Schuyler County, falling 90-34. While losing is never fun, Fayette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 528th, while Schuyler County is ranked 196th).
Fayette's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaleb Friebe, who scored 11 points, and Jaron Cross who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Swanson, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Brookfield was beaten by Lawson 65-37 on Wednesday. Brookfield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Fayette has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Brookfield, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.
Fayette strolled past Brookfield when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 62-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fayette since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
