After flying high against the Pine Tree Academy Breakers last Saturday, the Sacopee Valley Hawks came back down to earth. Sacopee Valley fell 64-56 to Waynflete on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Sacopee Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tyler Easterbrooks, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Easterbrooks has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Capano, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Sacopee Valley now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Waynflete, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Sacopee Valley will head out on the road to square off against North Yarmouth Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maine (Sacopee Valley is ranked 101st, while North Yarmouth Academy is ranked 99th). As for Waynflete, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against St. Dominic at 6:30 p.m. St. Dominic will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Waynflete surely won't give up without a fight.
