Roaring Fork is 8-2 against Grand Valley since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Roaring Fork Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Grand Valley Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Roaring Fork focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday.
Roaring Fork has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They took down North Fork 52-38.
Roaring Fork found their leader in underclassman Kiko Pena, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Pena scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Wilson, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Grand Valley, who are still winless after their seventh match. They took a 55-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Meeker. While losing is never fun, Grand Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Meeker is ranked 89th).
Roaring Fork's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. As for Grand Valley, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-7.
Roaring Fork strolled past Grand Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 91-75. Does Roaring Fork have another victory up their sleeve, or will Grand Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
