Blue Mountain has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Blue Mountain didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Bangor, but they still walked away with a 12-7 win.
Blue Mountain can attribute much of their success to Tyler Miller, who rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 51 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. Payton Fasnacht and his 95 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Blue Mountain's win.
Meanwhile, Schuylkill Haven entered their tilt with Minersville with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Schuylkill Haven came out on top against Minersville by a score of 35-28 on Friday. Schuylkill Haven had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year.
Schuylkill Haven found their leader in underclassman Niko Carestia, who rushed for 195 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Carestia's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.
Blue Mountain's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.3 points per game. As for Schuylkill Haven, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Everything came up roses for Blue Mountain against Schuylkill Haven in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 48-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blue Mountain since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
