The Alief Taylor Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 60-34 margin over Alvin. Given Alief Taylor's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while Alvin is ranked 871st), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nataliyah Gray was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it 20 consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Alief Taylor's points. Trinity Hamilton was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Alief Taylor's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Alvin, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-16.
Alief Taylor will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Dawson at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Alvin will finish 2023 at home by hosting Texas City at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th. Hopefully Texas City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Friday.
