It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Elizabeth Minutemen had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They blew past the Farmers, posting a 69-19 win at home. That 50 point margin sets a new team best for Elizabeth this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elizabeth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan Torres, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Torres has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Mcrae, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten assists.
Elizabeth pushed their record up to 18-4 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Union, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.
Elizabeth will face off against Roselle Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Union, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Middletown South at 4:15 p.m. Middletown South knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Union likes a good challenge.
